A floor-standing mandir in sheesham, at 40 cm wide — sized for a flat or a corner rather than a dedicated pooja room. Carved pillars either side, a cabinet below and a drawer for samagri, diya and agarbatti.
Why sheesham
Sheesham — Indian rosewood — is dense and strongly figured, running from golden brown to deep chocolate. On a mandir that matters for a specific reason: the piece lives with daily oil, ghee and camphor smoke, and a softer timber marks and darkens unevenly under it. Sheesham takes that and can be wiped back.
Solid throughout
Mandirs at this size are commonly built with a plywood carcass behind a solid front, which is why prices vary so widely. This one is solid timber through its thickness, including the back panel and drawer base — so it can be sanded and refinished rather than replaced when the finish tires.
Care
Wipe with a dry cloth and clean oil marks promptly rather than letting them sit. Avoid standing water and silicone polish. Sheesham deepens in colour over the first year — that is the timber maturing, not a fault.
