Teak (Sagwan)
7 pieces
Teak — sagwan — is the most durable hardwood in common furniture use, and the most expensive for the same reason. Its high natural oil content resists moisture, warping and insect damage without any chemical treatment, which is why it has been used on boats and outdoor furniture for centuries and why a teak piece stays stable through a monsoon and a dry summer alike. Real teak darkens to a deep honey brown and can be sanded back and refinished decades later. It is worth knowing that "teak finish" on a label usually means a stain on cheaper timber; solid teak is sold by weight and grain, and it feels like it.
